Chairman Liu Weizeng Attends Zhongguancun Energy Storage CEO Summit and Delivers Keynote Speech; JDEnergy Wins Technical Innovation Award at International Energy Storage Innovation Competition
From January 7 to 8, the 2024 China Energy Storage CEO Summit and the Preliminary Contest of the 8th International Energy Storage Innovation Competition were grandly held in Guangzhou. Hosted by the China Energy Storage Alliance (CNESA) and the National-Locally Co-built New Energy Storage Innovation Center, the event invited Liu Weizeng, Founder and Chairman of JDEnergy, and Ma Jinpeng, Deputy General Manager of Marketing at JDEnergy. They attended the summit and exchanged insights with industry leaders on energy storage development. Notably, after rounds of rigorous competition, JDEnergy was awarded the title of "Excellent Project in the Integrated Technology Track, Technical Innovation Group 2024".
01 Summit Dialogue to Seek Common Development

At the opening ceremony of the summit, Liu Weizeng, Founder and Chairman of JDEnergy, delivered a keynote report entitled Key Technologies and Application Exploration of Industrial and Commercial Energy Storage. He pointed out that the underlying logic driving the development of industrial and commercial energy storage lies in the intraday peak-valley electricity consumption gap formed by people’s natural daily work-rest cycle. This market will maintain sustainable growth in the long run. Mature technologies, stable returns together with financial and insurance support have ushered in the large-scale development of industrial and commercial energy storage. Back in 2020, JDEnergy took the lead in launching eBlock, the smart energy block tailored for industrial and commercial energy storage scenarios. Modular products have subsequently been rolled out by other industry players, which essentially reflects the industrial shift from extensive management to refined management.

During the Energy Storage CEO Panel Dialogue, leaders of top industry enterprises gathered to discuss the future of energy storage. Regarding the development trend of user-side energy storage, Liu Weizeng, Founder and Chairman of JDEnergy, held the view that the business model of user-side energy storage is maturing with increasingly diversified application scenarios. The sector is poised for sustained explosive growth and large-scale deployment.
02 Cutting-edge Technologies Claim Prestigious Honor

In recent years, with the gradual integration of new-type power generation equipment, power grid inertia has been continuously declining alongside weakened active power support capability. In severe cases, frequency instability may occur and trigger multiple large-scale power outages. Against such a backdrop, JDEnergy has independently developed grid-forming energy storage products based on string PCS adopting a brand-new three-level grid-forming topology. The system realizes station-level functions including black-start voltage setting, secondary voltage restoration, grid-connected/off-grid switching and precise array power distribution; array-level functions covering black-start logic, VSG grid-forming control, precise module current distribution and virtual impedance control; as well as high-precision data collection and rapid response at equipment level. The solution enables synchronous grid-forming for power stations with over one hundred megawatts consisting of up to one thousand PCS units. It restores voltage stability, frequency stability and power angle stability, effectively addressing the inertia challenge of new power systems from a technical perspective and comprehensively enhancing system stability.

After strict preliminary screening and professional defense, JDEnergy’s Grid-forming Energy Storage System Based on String PCS stood out and won the Excellent Project Award in the Integrated Technology Track under the Technical Innovation Group. The award serves as a vital driving force for the company’s rapid growth. Meanwhile, this honor also demonstrates high recognition from the industry for JDEnergy’s technological innovation capabilities.
03 Breaking Free from Cut-throat Competition and Pursuing Transformation

In 2024, while the global energy storage industry achieves rapid expansion, cut-throat competition has intensified and reached a white-hot stage. How to break out of fierce market rivalry and overcome industry challenges? At Sub-forum No.3, Ma Jinpeng, Deputy General Manager of Marketing of JDEnergy, shared his insights in a speech titled Breakthrough Strategies for China’s Industrial and Commercial Energy Storage Industry (2024–2025).
“Safety and economic efficiency constitute the primary challenges for energy storage development. Hence, we should focus on further lowering the levelized cost of storage (LCOS) for industrial and commercial energy storage systems. Safeguarding indicators including depth of discharge, throughput efficiency, granularity of safety configurations, insurance coverage, asset utilization rate, cycle life and capacity decay, rapid delivery, and adaptability to evolving revenue sources is the fundamental guarantee for improving the yield of asset investment operators. Furthermore, JDEnergy can deliver all-round empowerment to industrial and commercial energy storage customers with stronger product competitiveness, enhanced insurance support and superior service capabilities.”
As the year 2024 unfolds, JDEnergy will stay true to its original aspiration and continuously advance technological innovation. The company will bring more advanced and superior energy storage system solutions to the industry, contribute to the large-scale development of industrial and commercial energy storage, and fuel the realization of the dual carbon goals.
